In a statement issued on Monday, September 22, 2025, the company assured customers that the upgrade was carried out smoothly and that all M-PESA services are now fully operational.
The temporary downtime was part of Safaricom’s continuous efforts to enhance system efficiency and improve customer experience on the mobile money platform, which remains the most widely used digital financial service in Kenya.
“Dear Customers, the scheduled M-PESA upgrade was successfully completed and all services fully restored. All M-PESA services are now available,” read part of the official communication from Safaricom.

The telco further emphasized its commitment to providing seamless experiences, assuring users that the improvements would enhance service reliability going forward.
